The Board of Directors and staff at Community Living Wallaceburg are proud to share that fellow Board Member Chris Taylor has been awarded the Jason Rae Award at this year’s Community Living Ontario Annual Conference. The Jason Rae Award recognizes a civicminded community leader who identifies as having an intellectual disability — and Chris Taylor is a standout example.

Chris’ volunteerism and work in our community serve as an inspiration and a reminder of the value of giving back. In each case, Chris’ hard work and dedication fulfill important roles that benefit the broader community. A Board Member with Community Living Wallaceburg since 2014, Chris also works in Production/Editing/Events with Your TV Chatham-Kent. Chris also manages both Videography and IT for the Chatham Maroons Junior B Hockey Club and
is the longest serving volunteer with Wallaceburg’s CKXS radio station. Greg Hetherington, owner of CKXS states “He’s a great ambassador and he sends a great message about inclusivity …he’s so dedicated, I’ve never seen a volunteer in my lifetime who’s so passionate about media.”

A strong presence in the community, Chris reminds us of the valuable contributions that people with disabilities continue to make every day. But he doesn’t stop there. His leadership and advocacy on the Community Living Wallaceburg Board has been remarkable. Ben Hazzard, President of the Board, noted: “Chris is a strong and confident voice who never hesitates to bring perspective and a reminder of why the work of the organization and its Board is so important. His wisdom and experience make him an incredible asset.”

Roger Romses, Executive Director of Community Living Wallaceburg, added: “We truly appreciate everything Chris has given and continues to give to our organization and to our community at large. He is a genuine, generous, dedicated, and hard-working individual who serves as an example of citizenship within his community that we can all aspire to.” Please join us in congratulating Chris Taylor on this well-deserved recognition!
